Daily program: The Africa Offroad Adventure
1. Arrival Day
You arrive in the morning hours at the airport located 50 kilometers outside of Windhoek. From there, you will be picked up and taken to the hotel. The rest of the day is for acclimatization and city exploration.
2. Drive from Windhoek to Etosha National Park
Our 4x4 self-drive safari starts from our office in Windhoek. We drive north on the B1 towards Otjiwarongo and Outjo into the Etosha National Park. Our camp for tonight is the Okaukuejo Camp. We still have some time until evening to go on our first safari with our 4x4 vehicles. In the evening, you can sit on a bench at the illuminated waterhole in the camp and relax while watching the animals that come to drink late into the night.
3. Otjitotongwe Kamanjab
Today we visit the 'Save the Cheetah' project. Today offers a unique experience with the cheetahs that you can experience and feed 'up close'. A cool swimming pool is also available here. You can also optionally take a bush walk. Unfortunately, we do not have electricity in the area, so we cook with gas.
4. Epupa Falls
We leave the camp very early and drive via Opuwa. On the way, we fuel up and refresh our supplies for the coming days and head to the Epupa Falls. In the local language, Epupa means falling water. It describes the foam and the sound caused by the water falling over the rocks. We set up our tents at the camp for the next 2 nights. The camp is located on the banks of the Kunene River and is surrounded by palm trees. Next, we will visit the waterfalls and the surrounding area, as well as a traditional Himba village, which is the highlight of the day. We prepare ourselves with an off-road training at the campsite for the off-roading that awaits us in the coming days.
5. Kaokoveld
The Kaokoveld is located to the northwest and is one of the most untouched areas of Namibia. The barely passable area in the south of the Kunene River is home to the Himba ethnic group. They live in the seclusion of the Kaokoveld, preserving their identity and living their ethnic culture. Our 4X4 expedition vehicles allow us to drive through the off-road area. Our experienced guide navigates us through the extremely sandy, dusty, and poorly marked region. Without an experienced guide, this would hardly be possible.
6. Van Zyl's Pass
The entire distance today is about 140 km. We expect it to take the whole day because the extremely poor road conditions make our drive challenging. Tonight we will camp in the wilderness near the top of Van Zyl Pass.
7. Purros
Today we drive up the steep Van Zyl Pass with its unique panoramic view of the Marien River. We head south towards Purros, where we will spend the night at our campsite next to the riverbed. In the late afternoon, we set out to search for the desert elephants.
8. Palmwag
Another day spent in the wilderness searching for Africa's wild animals. We head south into Damaraland. Our campsite tonight is located at Palmwag in the heart of Damaraland. Our accommodation here has a swimming pool, a restaurant, bar, etc.
9. Brandberg
Today we head south to Twyfelfontein. We have enough time to explore the area. We visit the Burnt Mountain with its rock engravings and the Organ Pipes. We will spend the night at the White Lady campsite.
10. Swakopmund
Today we head west to the Atlantic and then south to Swakopmund. We spend our last night here and explore the 'German town'. In the afternoon, you have numerous optional dune rides available.
11. Return to Windhoek
We drive back to Windhoek. Lunch will be on the way today. After arrival, you will return the car and will be taken to the hotel or directly to the airport, thus ending our tour. We shuttle all participants to the airport for the return flight to Europe. Optionally, you can also extend your stay in Windhoek for an additional day.
12. Extend Day in Windhoek (optional)
You can design this day in Windhoek yourself, or we recommend a 'city program'.
